Award nominations are currently closed. 

A prehospital save is presented when personnel are directly responsible for maintaining or improving a patient's condition in the prehospital setting. This action then allows the patient to lead a meaningful and productive post-incident life whereas the demise of the patient would have occurred without the intervention. We also include cases of exceptionally demonstrated skills done within the realm of certification which enhance a patient's condition and/or recovery. 

Individual and Service Awards along with accompanying documentation must be submitted no later than April 18, 2025 to be considered by the awards committee. 

Meritorious Conduct

Refer to an individual's effort which exceeds the call of duty while on or off the job. We will not present awards to people who foolishly enter dangerous situations. 

Special Recognition:

To recognize an individual whose efforts within their field are directly responsible for benefitting the prehospital field. This can also apply to a civilian who has been instrumental in saving a life.

BLS Provider of the Year

Criteria: Contributions to the community as a First Responder or EMT- Basic (EMT-B) who demonstrates dedication, responsibility, professional behavior, ingenuity, special skill or insight in the EMS environment.

Eligibility: First Responder, EMT-B working in Berkshire County. 

ALS Provider of the Year

Criteria: Contribution to the community as an Advanced EMT (AEMT) or Paramedic (EMT-P), and who demonstrates dedication, responsibility, professional behavior, ingenuity, special skill, and insight in the EMS environment.

Eligibility: MA Certified Advanced EMT, EMT-P working in Berkshire County.

EMS Agency of the Year

Criteria: Any agency that strives for consistency in EMS excellence and exhibits exemplary performance when providing or supporting pre-hospital emergency medical care.

Eligibility: A MA volunteer or career EMS agency, such as but not limited to, MA certified ambulance service, Fire Department, Law Enforcement agency, hospital Emergency Department, dispatch organization, etc. in Berkshire County.

EMS Educator of Excellence

Criteria: Contributions to the EMS community specializing in Emergency Medical Services education and who demonstrates dedication, responsibility, professional behavior, ingenuity, special skill or insight in the pre-hospital education environment.

Eligibility: Educator must belong to a WMEMS, OEMS Accredited Training Institution and/or a First Responder or EMT-Any Level or a licensed healthcare provider providing training and education in Berkshire County.

EMS Communication Specialist of the Year

Criteria: Contributions to the EMS community as a call receiving operator, dispatcher or call taker, and who demonstrates dedication, responsibility, professional behavior, ingenuity, special skill or insight in the pre-hospital dispatching environment.

Eligibility: EMS operator, dispatcher or call taker currently working in Berkshire County. 

Nurse of Excellence

Criteria: Contributions to the EMS community as a registered nurse who demonstrates dedication, responsibility, professional behavior, ingenuity, special skill or insight in the support of prehospital care.

Eligibility: Registered Nurse who is currently working in Berkshire County. 

Physician of the Year

Criteria: Contributions to the EMS community as a physician, physicians assistant, or nurse practitioner who demonstrates dedication, responsibility, professional behavior, ingenuity, special skill or insight in support of pre-hospital care. 

Eligibility: Physician, Physicians Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner currently working in Berkshire County. 

Police Officer of the Year

Criteria: Contributions to the EMS community as a law enforcement officer who demonstrates dedication, responsibility, professional behavior, ingenuity, special skill or insight in support of pre-hospital care. 

Eligibility: Law enforcement officer currently working in Berkshire County. 

Firefighter of the Year

Criteria: Contributions to the EMS community as a firefighter who demonstrates dedication, responsibility, professional behavior, ingenuity, special skill or insight in support of prehospital care

Eligibility: Full-time, part time, or volunteer firefighter currently working in Berkshire County.
